Two young adults and a juvenile were arrested as suspects in a fatal San Jose shooting last month that police say was gang-related.
San Jose police said the shooting happened on October 27 on the 100 block of South 2nd Street in downtown San Jose. Officers arrived to find a man who had been shot at least once and provided life-saving measures until medics arrived but the victim died at the scene. Officers recovered an assault-style rifle in the area of the shooting, police said.
During the investigation, homicide detectives identified 19-year-old Milpitas resident Addam Nieto, 18-year-old San Jose resident Brian Medina, and a 17-year-old San Jose resident as the primary suspects. Police said all three suspects were associated with San Jose gangs.
On November 15, detectives and SWAT officers arrested the juvenile suspect in San Jose who was found with an automatic firearm concealed in his waistband. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for murder.
It was also discovered that Medina was already at Juvenile Hall on unrelated charges. Detectives took Medina into custody and booked him into the Santa Clara County Jail for murder.
Detectives also learned that Nieto was also in custody for unrelated charges in Stanislaus County. Police said Nieto was served an arrest warrant for murder pending extradition back to Santa Clara County.
Police did not disclose a motive in the homicide and the circumstances surrounding the incident were still under investigation.
The victim’s identity was not disclosed. Police said it was San Jose’s 26th homicide of 2024.
